Doomsday Night In A Hut
It is a dark night with thunderous thunder. I find myself waking up in a hut. Things are scattered here and there in the house. As I walk around the house, I begin to realize that it is very small and in dilapidated condition. There is a large living room and a kitchen attached to the door. At the exit of the room, a little far away there was a cattle stable, which stood on four pillars, the roof was made of grass, which was missing, maybe the strong wind would have blown it away.
Never before in my life had such fierceness of rain come and maybe it will come sometime in the future, don't know. It was raining heavily that night. It was dark in the village at five o'clock in the evening due to the rain. The clouds were spreading terror by roaming around. The lightning was flickering intermittently. The unpaved roads were filled with water. The thunder of lightning was shaking the hearts of the people sitting in the hut. The streets had taken the form of a river. It was not in anyone's capacity to step out in such heavy rain. The roof was leaking. The essential things of the houses got wet.
There is one fear that we usually keep in the farthest corners of our minds but which sometimes – especially at 3 a.m. on a restless night – fills our thoughts: if we do not continually strive to achieve If we miss out or a new disaster strikes the economy, we will lose almost everything and end up living in a caravan, a tiny one-room flat or - god forbid - a cottage in the middle of nowhere.
The bleakness of this image inspires us to more frantic efforts. We'll settle for almost anything to avoid it: working oppressively long hours; a job in which there is no interest; risky money making schemes; A loveless marriage that keeps us in the family home or perhaps decades of succumbing to the whims of an overbearing relative for an inheritance. The hut is a symbol of complete disaster and humiliation.
I came out and saw that the roof of Ramu Kaka's house had caved in. The people around had also come to help. After a while, Lightening flashed again and along with it the walls of some other houses also collapsed. There was a lot of damage to property in this torrential night.
Due to this fear, people were come outside the houses. There was only water above and below them. It was a doomsday night. I had never seen such a crisis before. Somewhere after morning the water stopped. The whole village was shaken in this dreadful night of rain. Life here had become chaotic.
