Visit to a Hill Station-2

I was very eager to see and feel this environment from very closely; thus the next morning I moved alongwith Indus River, which was flowing by the side of the village. The Indus River is the backbone of Ladakh; historically and presently prominent places and Leh, Basgo and Tingmosgung are located close to the river. 

It is one of the largest rivers in the world in terms of annual flow. The river has historically been important to many cultures of the region.

I had visited Buddhist Monastery on my day first. This Monastery also called Spituk Gompa, is a Buddhist monastery located about Seven kilometers from Leh. One of the most dazzling monasteries in India, it houses 100 monks and a giant statue of Goddess Kali. It is famous for its collection of Buddhist objects of antique arms, icon, ancient masks and numerous Thangka paintings.

I saw lots of "Panchakkies" first time in my life alongside of Indus River. There was less water in the river at this time; still flow was very high and its width was very vast. मैं इस वातावरण को बहुत करीब से देखने और महसूस करने के लिए बहुत उत्सुक था; इस प्रकार अगली सुबह मैं सिंधु नदी के साथ चल पड़ा, जो गाँव के किनारे से बह रही थी। सिंधु नदी लद्दाख की रीढ़ है; ऐतिहासिक और वर्तमान में प्रमुख स्थान और लेह, बसगो और टिंगमोसगंग नदी के करीब स्थित हैं। यह वार्षिक प्रवाह के मामले में दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी नदियों में से एक है। नदी ऐतिहासिक रूप से इस क्षेत्र की कई संस्कृतियों के लिए महत्वपूर्ण रही है।

मैंने पहले दिन बौद्ध मठ का दौरा किया था। यह मठ जिसे स्पितुक गोम्पा भी कहा जाता है, लेह से लगभग आठ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित एक बौद्ध मठ है। भारत में सबसे चमकदार मठों में से एक, इसमें एक सौ भिक्षुओं के रहने की व्यवस्था हैं और काली माँ की विशाल प्रतिमा है। यह प्राचीन हथियारों, आइकन, प्राचीन मुखौटे और कई थंगका चित्रों के बौद्ध वस्तुओं के संग्रह के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

मैंने अपने जीवन में पहली बार सिंधु नदी के किनारे बहुत सी “पंचकियाँ” देखीं। इस समय नदी में पानी कम था; अभी भी प्रवाह बहुत अधिक था और इसकी चौड़ाई बहुत विशाल थी। मैंने वहां सेब का बगीचा देखा था। ये सेब कश्मीरी सेब से अलग हैं। ये छोटे और हरे रंग के थे लेकिन स्वाद में बहुत मीठे थे, बिलकुल लद्दाखी लोगों की तरह।
