It was 9 o'clock when I woke up. The train was parked at a station. But now there was a crowd but not like yesterday. I didn't even drink water after boarding the train. I was feeling nauseous but was unable to go anywhere. 

An old couple were sitting nearby where I was standing. When the train reached Vadodara railway station in the afternoon, the couple offered to sit with them. Many others objected, but they ignored him. I got a seat 14 hours after the starting of trip and I was very relaxed.

The couple asked me to have lunch and drink some water. I could not eat food but still drank some water and fell asleep. I woke up in the evening when the train was at our last stop at Kalyan Junction, Mumbai. All my colleagues gathered there, we were about 40 persons of the same age group. Read More...

When I was in the 7th grade, my two younger brothers also started going to school, which resulted increase in our spending. I was not in favor of making them realize our poverty. Thus I searched for the new source of income in addition to my mother's wages.  Honestly hard work has shown its color and we took back our farm which my uncle had as a hostage. Waking up early in the morning milking the pets, feeding them and distributing newspapers was my morning routine. Then on my way to school, I had to leave the milk container at the shops at my bus stand.  After school straight to home and feed my brothers then making arrangement to feed pet animals in my house. Then visit our fields to bring grass for my pets and cutting it with "Gandasa” for the next day. In evening milking the pets. Thus I had no time to meet any of my school mate. A large part of life passed in this house, but never rested. The world takes pleasure in praising those who put their apocalypse behind the garrisons. The person who sacrifice for the family does not praise the world. Similarly, people who die for outsiders, why did the housemates start praising them. If two of your servants are of the same category, there will never be any quarrel between them; but you make one of them an officer and the other as his subordinate, then look, how much officer is applauding his subordinates. The foundation of a happy marriage can be laid on authority. Love may reside in this contrast, I doubt it. What we call love among men and women today is the same love that the master has with his animal. Let the animal bend his head, the owner will also give him straw and a cake, and will also rub his body, he will also wear jewelry; but the animal slowed down slightly, bent its neck so that the owner's whip fell on the back. My father had become idle. Though, the primary source of our income was agricultural land and it was gone from our hand. Now there was no job for my father. That time we were two brothers and two sisters. I was not born that time.  He went to Kanpur Uttar Pradesh for some work because my maternal grandfather lived there and was running a restaurant. So he helped my father find  job of a cook . It was good for our family but not for long. My father left the job, but he stayed there because he was still in misery.  He could not forget the situation he faced in recent times. They follow their favorite sports teams and know all the details of their favorite TV programs. Poverty has changed a great deal in my life and extending into adulthood.  I had forgotten to play with my friends but every time thing something better for my home. But one good thing happen, in my high school I met with a benevolent teacher named “Mr. Sher Singh”. He was very kind hearted man and helped me a lot by providing Stationery, text books and school fee and uniform. My school was in the same village as my mother was working. When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed.  But there is enough in the world for everyone's need, but not for everyone's greed. Everyone in our society ignores it. In the evening our train reached at Belgaum railway station around 5 pm. We got off the train and gathered on the platform. Although it was an official visit, we had no problem, as our people were waiting for us.  They welcomed us, inquired about it if there was any difficulty along the way. Then took our official papers and counted our people. After checking all the papers, he brought us with him to the place where he had arranged the trains for us. Thus we were away from our house at the new house.   But the journey was not yet complete. After reaching there, there was some change in where we had to stay. We were about six hundred boys from all over India. They offered dinner, but most of us were unable to eat due to a long and tiring journey. Finally, thinking about the next trip, we slept. We had to go to Belgaum city in Karnataka state, our next train was from Bombay VT (Presently Mumbai CST). We had gone by local train to Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. There we had tea and snacks. There was time to walk our car, so we went out for a walk outside station. Feeling quite light when we arrived at station. We got a seat in the Mahalakshmi Express to Miraj railway station. The next morning we got down from the train, gathered at a venue and inquired about the train going to Belgaum. We had our breakfast at the station and left for Belgaum by train. Everything was so amazing, black soil, their costumes, food even I had not heard before, such as vada pav, idli, sambar, dosa, poha.; But the greenery of that place was touching my heart. There were no public transport that time nor do the people have money to afford.  One day "Hathi" went to see some of his relatives around twenty miles away. While coming back to home he saw a heavy stone used for mixing & grinding home construction material. He planned to carry it to his village. So he lifted it on his shoulder and brought to his village. Near to his house there was a Panchyat Ghar. Lot of aged people sit there in the evening for "Hooka." When he was passing through they called him asked for "Hooka." Saying that he is coming from a long distance and have some water and rest. Tomorrow will place it at the right place. It was 07 Oct 1987, when we were pushed like animals in Pashchim Express train for Mumbai (Bombay). The crowd in the train was so heavy that, we could not take care of our luggage. We were only praying for our life. Train departed from New Delhi Railway station in the evening around 05’, o clock. Many people were screaming, "we will fall down, go inside", but there was no space in the train to move a centimeter. Then he made a vigorous push and we moved a foot further into it. Every movement was by force, individually we were unable to do anything. The train was moving at its speed and we were standing helpless.Train halted many stations but nothing was visible outside due to crowd.
